TRADITIONAL LEADERS AND COMMUNITY BENEFICIATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES
The Programme area is focused on empowering traditional leaders to drive fair resource use and community beneficiation. We focus on collaboration between traditional leaders, government, and stakeholders to ensure communities benefit directly from resource wealth, with investments in livelihoods, infrastructure, and rights-based governance.
Address the beneficiation gap
A. Ensure communities benefit directly from mining and other natural resource sectors.
B. Promote fair distribution of revenues and opportunities so local people see tangible improvements in their lives.
Strengthen collaboration with government and stakeholders
A. Position traditional leaders as key partners in governance and resource management.
B. Encourage joint initiatives between leaders, government, unions, and civil society to create sustainable opportunities.
Support community rights and participation
A. Advocate for communities to have a voice in decisions about natural resources.
B. Build capacity for leaders to protect land, environment, and livelihoods.
