KAREN LYNDA OGLE

KAREN LYNDA OGLE is a highly accomplished electoral administration expert with nearly three decades of experience in democratic governance, electoral systems management, and election observation across Africa. Her career spans senior leadership roles within the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa, the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA), the African Union Commission, UNDP, and major continental observer missions.

She has managed complex electoral operations, voter registration systems, observer deployments, and institutional reforms across multiple African countries including Ethiopia, Zambia, Nigeria, Kenya, Mozambique, Lesotho, Malawi, The Gambia, and Zimbabwe. Her experience includes serving as Chief Operating Officer at EMCA, where she led operational strategy for Africa’s largest pension fund election process, as well as coordinating over 600 election observers through the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council.

Karen has served extensively as a Long-Term Observer, Deputy Coordinator, Gender Expert, and Election Administration Specialist for the African Union, while also providing technical support to Election Management Bodies and training short-term and long-term observers on electoral integrity, governance indicators, and democratic best practices. Her expertise combines electoral administration, governance systems, legal compliance, stakeholder engagement, and inclusive democratic participation.
